Honesty and transparency are core values for me as an independent. I believe it's better to tell someone the truth, even if it may be uncomfortable in the short term, rather than hiding facts and creating long-term issues. In politics, honesty is essential because the public has a right to know what's happening behind closed doors. From understanding politicians' plans and upcoming bills to knowing how much they receive in donations, transparency should be the standard. As an independent, I am committed to being fully open with everyone I meet, in person or online. This means answering questions honestly and ensuring that people in Wentworth and across Australia understand my intentions, plans, and vision for the future.
There's an old tale that says, "People will love the candy shop more than the doctor because sweets bring instant happiness, but leave issues down the road, while the doctor's treatments might be uncomfortable now, but solve problems in the long run." I see many politicians as the candy shop: they offer quick fixes that feel good in the short term but ignore the long-term impacts. I strive to be more like the doctor.
Some of my policies may not be popular in the short term because they're aimed at the future. I'm focused on securing a stable and prosperous future for our children, their children, and all of Australia. While I'm not here to win short-term favor, I'm committed to setting up the foundation for a healthier, wealthier society—so that, ultimately, we can all be happier. Maintaining Australia's unique beauty and prosperity means planning ahead, not just responding to the demands of today.
Free speech is essential. The right to express one's ideas, goals, and views is a fundamental right that I believe all Australians should uphold and protect. It feels as though this freedom is being eroded, with an increasing number of topics deemed 'taboo.' I am committed to pushing back against this trend by openly and honestly addressing any question, regardless of how sensitive or controversial the topic might be today.
I believe that real progress comes from open discussion, even when it involves disagreement. Speaking with people who hold different perspectives is an opportunity for growth and learning on both sides, and I intend to welcome these discussions, regardless of societal pressures. My goal is to keep conversations open, share my viewpoints, and explore diverse perspectives, knowing that through respectful dialogue, we can challenge our own assumptions and broaden our understanding.
I'll be launching a monthly newsletter that delves into key issues facing Wentworth and Australia as a whole, with details on how I plan to address these challenges and my vision for the future. Each edition will feature my thoughts, ideas, and actionable goals for the community. I highly encourage you to sign up to stay informed and up-to-date on any major changes and initiatives we're pursuing together each month.
